Tufts University Chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society

Community Outreach

An important part of BMES is reaching out to the community. We will work with the Medford and Somerville high school programs to try to inspire interest in research and the STEM subjects. We will also man booths for the Tufts-wide Community Day, Kids Day, and Engineering Week events.

Kids Day 2014
BMES had a fantastic time at Kids Day. Activities included building DNA from gumdrops, bubble chasing with the bubble wand, and superhero face masks!

COMMUNITY DAY 2013
On 9/29/13, Tufts BMES participated in Community Day. BMES worked with kids to make Oobleck, a non-newtonian fluid that has the characteristics of a fluid and a solid. Kids got to make this slime-like substance, and take it home with them. We hope we were able to share our love of science with the kids and thousands of people who attended the event!
