Image segmentation for frog embryos

 

In collaboration with Dany Adams in Biology, we are working to automatically analyze microscopy images for frog embryos during development.  The images are created using fluorescent dyes that respond to membrane voltage potential, and can be used to test hypotheses about how embryo development interacts with biolectric cues.  While the work is ongoing, some initial results (generated with Haaris Ghafoor, and presented at SPMB’12) are in the PDF below

Ultrasound Artifact ReductionI’m currently working on an internally funded project for applying adaptive beamforming methods (borrowed from sonar) to reduce artifacts in medical ultrasound imaging.  Here’s an example image from some data generously provided by Sonetics, Inc:
