We look forward to moving the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine from TUSK to Canvas in 2019. Clinical courses will begin using Canvas in March; pre-clinical courses will follow in August. As part of the Cummings School adoption of Canvas, CSVM will also begin using OASIS to support clinical teaching.
Which schools and programs have already moved to Canvas?
Courses at the Fletcher School, the Friedman School, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts have been using Canvas since Fall 2017. The School of Arts & Sciences, the School of Engineering, and the School of Dental Medicine moved to Canvas in Summer 2018. See the entire project timeline.
When can I start working on my Canvas course site?
We are still determining when course sites will be available. Instructors will be notified via email when course sites are ready.
Will my course material be moved to Canvas?
Yes. The Canvas team is working with Cummings School staff to migrate files, assignments, assessments, and other teaching materials from TUSK.
When is TUSK going away?
TUSK is still in active, fully-supported use. You can log into the system as you always have and access previous course materials. When we schedule a date on which we will stop supporting TUSK, we will communicate that information to users with plenty of notice.
What is OASIS?
OASIS is a web-based application, integrated with Canvas, that facilitates scheduling and evaluation for schools in the health sciences. The clinical rotation lottery at CSVM will be facilitated by OASIS. Instructors will access OASIS via Canvas and they will use OASIS to view rotation schedules and enter student grades. Learn more about OASIS.
How will I learn to use Canvas?
Educational Technology Services will offer a variety of training sessions and workshops on Canvas. Training will be offered in-person on the Grafton campus and online via WebEx. We will also continue to offer training sessions at the Medford and Boston Health Sciences campuses for users at our current Canvas schools. We are working with partners in individual programs and departments to organize these training sessions and scheduled dates will be posted on the Training Calendar soon.
