Next Tuesday, October 22, Egyptian filmmaker Amal Ramsis will visit campus and screen her documentary film, “Forbidden.” The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker. The event begins at 5:30 pm in Mugar 200. Additional details can be found on our events calendar.
Three months before the January 25th uprising, Amal Ramsis began shooting her first scenes in the streets of Cairo, exploring the very meaning of the word “forbidden,” which punctuates many forms of Egyptian daily life even as it remains incomplete and contested. The revolution comes on the last day of editing this film to provide answers to many of the questions that the film raises.
