Fall 2017

Join Us in this Big Year

A message from the president of the Tufts Dental Alumni Association.

I am humbled and honored to have been elected president of Tufts University Dental Alumni Association (TUDAA) at the 2017 Homecoming and Reunion Weekend. I am also fortunate to be supported by the loyal and dedicated TUDAA board of directors and the staff in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

This year’s buzzword is “sesquicentennial.” I have been practicing how to say this word to impress our dean, Huw Thomas, as he prepares to celebrate the 150th anniversary of our dental school. It feels good to know that I am a graduate of a dental program that has been around this long, but the school’s longevity is no surprise: Tufts has always been on the cutting edge of dental education, from implementing new technology and techniques into its didactic program, to keeping up with the physical facility by completing a $68 million expansion in 2009. Not to mention the culture of inclusivity and equal rights within the dental school that is being practiced by Dean Thomas and Tufts University President Anthony Monaco.

An integral part to the success of our dental program is you—the alumni of Tufts School of Dental Medicine. Without your support of the Tufts Dental Fund and dental alumni association, many of our current dental students would not be able to finish their education or enjoy this state-of-the-art facility—you have done the same for many of our alumni. So, thank you for your continued support. Over the course of this next year, I encourage you to stay involved and connected. Come back to visit your school during Homecoming and Reunion Weekend as we celebrate our sesquicentennial anniversary, even if it is not your reunion year.

I look forward to seeing you at many of the events that are organized by the TUDAA throughout the year. Your membership supports many of them.
