Four military veterans from the Tufts dental community were honored by the Boston Celtics’ “Heroes Among Us” program during a home game at TD Garden on December 6, 2018. Robert Kasberg, associate dean for admissions and student affairs; Brent Mullen, D20; Charles Rankin, professor of endodontics; and Keith Nguyen, D20, led about fifty intrepid trekkers from the dental school on the Tough Ruck, a 26.2-mile march before the 2018 Boston Marathon, raising more than $14,000 to benefit the Military Friends organization and the New England Center and Home for Veterans. (The Celtics were winners that night, too, beating the Knicks, 128-100.)
