On August 1, 2011, Web Comm launched the new Office of the President website for President Anthony Monaco: http://president.tufts.edu.
This is date is notable not just because it was President Monaco’s first day on the job, but also because it marks the first site launched in Web Comm’s upgraded content management system, Thinwire 2.0. Thinwire 2.0 is based off of WordPress, a popular open-source, web-based CMS. It is more flexible and modern than the original version of Thinwire, and includes features users have been clamoring for, such as social media support, easy to embed media and new designs.
The president’s site includes a welcome message from Monaco, as well as pictures, biographical information and links to news stories. As time goes by, more content (including inauguration ceremony details) will be added.
Web Comm has also partnered with Digital Collections and Archives to preserve the older version of the site, which was originally created for President Emeritus Lawrence Bacow. Bacow’s site can be found in the DCA’s archives.
