Research Initiative

TURS, the Tufts Undergraduate Research & Skills Initiative, gives students the opportunity to explore economics outside of the classroom by learning in-depth about certain topics and by being exposed to economics research. The goal of the TURS initiative is to encourage undergraduate students to take a deeper dive into their interests in economics, gain practical skills, and learn how to use the tools that Economists use to answer important real-world questions

In Fall 2021, the Tufts Economics Society (TES) will be hosting bi-weekly teach-ins that will cover a wide array of economic concepts, tools, and more. These teach-ins will provide students with knowledge that will help them connect what they learn in the classroom to real-world applications of economics and theory by exploring key concepts from various economics courses and by delving into basic statistics, statistical software, and data visualization.

Apart from these teach-ins, the Tufts Economics Society will also be hosting several workshops that will help students construct their own research questions and topics and learn how to read economic papers so that they may potentially begin their own research journey in the spring.
