“Students cannot comprehend scientific practices, nor fully appreciate the nature of scientific knowledge itself, without directly experiencing those practices for themselves.” Next Generation Science Standards

The 2016 MA Framework places new priority on students’ learning the practices of science, based on the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). For many teachers, part of the challenge is to understand how to engage in those practices.

The Experiencing Scientific Inquiry online course, offered fall 2017, is designed to give teachers the chance to do science for themselves. That will help us think about how students approach science in the second and third courses of the series. It will be unlike any science course you’ve ever taken. It’s going to be a blast!
