Internship Project: Work with Web Startup to Quantify the Environmental Impact of their Service on Consumer Behavior

by Ann Greaney-Williams on January 12, 2012

Twyxter, Inc. is creating a benefit program that encourages employees of large corporations and their families to lead more sustainable lives. This is accomplished by motivating consumers to increase the utilization of a wide range of consumer products and reduce the amount of waste going into landfills.

We are looking for someone to work with us on a part-time basis to develop metrics that quantify the environmental benefits derived from using the service.   The data will be used to engender corporate support of the program and to motivate the desired changes in consumer behavior.

This is a great project for someone who is analytical, has a passion for the environment, and is interested in finding ways to promote more sustainable lifestyles.  Twyxter is a technology startup based in Waltham that was recently founded by two entrepreneurs, one of whom graduated from Tufts.  Although this is an unpaid project, we are committed to making it a learning experience.

The work done for this project may be highly relevant to students in Environmental Studies and, in particular, to coursework focused on Sustainability (including corporate social responsibility, sustainability management, environmental economics, waste management, and consumer behavior).

If interested, please send an email to Jay Mixter at recruiting@twyxter.com.  Be sure to include your contact information, relevant areas of study, and reasons for your interest in the project.
