Library Garden Club Internship

The Library Garden Club Intern will work with the REC’s School Garden VISTA to run a summer program for children 10-12 years old at the Worcester Public Library. By using the garden as a springboard for learning about food and nutrition, the intern will help develop a program that engages students in what they eat. The internship will be 10-15 hours a week and require the ability to work independently. Compensation will be real-world work experience, as well as college credit if worked out with school beforehand.

Responsibilities:

-Develop a program curriculum

-Lead the programming with participants

-Supervise the children during educational activities and during work in the garden

-Assist with garden maintenance

Qualifications:

-Education background/ experience

-Gardening experience strongly preferred

-Creativity

-Can work both independently and as part of a team

-Flexibility

-Passion for food justice and education
