Urban Ecology Institute: Education Program Assistant

Founded in 1998, the Urban Ecology Institute (UEI) helps communities build healthy, safe and vibrant cities by educating urban residents about the ecology of their environment, connecting them to their neighbors, and engaging them in transforming their urban communities into places where they want to live. UEI’s Education Division offers natural science field studies curricula and high school teacher training. The Sustainable Cities Division brings together communities, municipalities, researchers, and non-profit organizations to assess and re-green urban land while promoting stewardship and the renewal of ecological health and beauty to urban neighborhoods.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Urban Ecology Institute is seeking a program assistant for 5-15 hours per week with the Education Division. Primary responsibilities will include: database management, research, event planning and support, and small projects. The program assistant will report to the Director of Education. Schedule is flexible, Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • interest in formal and/or informal science and environmental education;
  • knowledge of ecological principles and urban ecosystems;
  • highly organized and proficient with standard computer programs (Windows).
