Summer Student Trainee Position at the US Geological Survey

This position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program which is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities in agencies to explore Federal careers while still in school.

This is a temporary, paid internship to complete project work that’s temporary in nature, and is located in Northboro, MA.  The appointment is not-to-exceed 09/30/2013 and can be extended without further competition based on the need of the organization for the work to continue and provided the individual continues to meet the eligibility requirements described below.

The application period for this position is Monday, May 06, 2013 to Friday, May 10, 2013

Currently enrolled US Citizens at accredited 2 and 4-year universities are eligible to apply for this position.

As a Student Trainee (ADMIN) with the Office of Communications and Publishing, you will serve in a trainee capacity, performing routine and recurring development assignments to acquire knowledge and understanding of functions, principles, practices, and methods used in the area of Congressional Affairs, Public Affairs, Internal/External Communications /Web and Social Media. Duties include:

-Basic functions of office automation, word processing software and electronic mail to create, copy, edit, and print variety of standardized documents.

-Types correspondence and reports  into proper format.

-Receives and directs telephone calls or visitors.

-Prepares and maintains office records.
