Database Intern Opportunity at University of Florida Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center

The Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation at University of
Florida Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center is seeking an
enthusiastic individual to assist with data management on projects related
to research and monitoring of native and invasive reptiles in southern
Florida. Intern will be expected to work 40 hours a week, including some
nights, for a period of 12 weeks Additional descriptions of ongoing

*Duties*
Intern will work with scientists and managers from the University of
Florida as well as state and federal agencies. Primary duties include
database management and data analysis. This opportunity will provide
necessary training and exposure to manage large data sets, query
appropriate data for analyses, and perform analyses. Additional duties
include data entry and other tasks as assigned. Depending on availability,
intern may have occasional opportunities to participate in other research
projects.

*Qualifications*

– Possess or pursuing degree in computer sciences, ecology, biology,
wildlife, environmental science, or related field
– Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Access, Excel, and
Word)
– Strong statistical background
– Excellent communication skills and accurate data recording are
essential
– Ability to work independently and with others in a fast-paced
environment
– Prioritization and time management skills
– General outdoor skills

*Salary:* $200/week.  Shared housing may be available.

*Start date**: *Internships are generally three months and this
advertisement applies to multiple internships occurring throughout the
year; March 1-May 31, June 1-August 31, September 1-November 30, December
1-February 28.  Dates are flexible.  Deadline for applications is 6 weeks
