Paid Internships at City of Medford Office of Energy & Environment

by Sara Gomez Garcia on September 11, 2017

The City of Medford Office of Energy & Environment has several internship positions available throughout the school year. We can offer both paid internships and Federal Work Study positions. The office is responsible for overseeing and implementing environmentally sound programs in the City of Medford. In cooperation with other departments and organizations, the E&E office works on many things including climate change protection, wetlands protection, open space conservation, improving municipal wide energy efficiency, and storm water outreach. The Office is also spearheading the climate change resiliency and adaptation planning for the City of Medford.

General office help is needed year-round and involves helping residents, updating the website, researching information needed by the Director and collecting energy use data from municipal sources and keeping it updated in state and federal systems. Site visits to environmental projects throughout the city occur spontaneously throughout the year. Additionally, the office organizes Medford’s annual Harvest Your Energy Festival each fall, and help is needed throughout the year to organize and run it.

The Office of E&E is a growing department in Medford and the center of environmental and clean energy development in the City. Located in Medford’s City Hall, the Office is in Medford Square, right off of I-93 and on many MBTA bus routes. The Office is open Mon, Tue & Thurs 8:30-4:30, Wed 8:30-7:30pm and Fri 8:30-12:30. The position requires at least 8 hours a week during the school year.

Interested applicants should email a copy of their resume, and letter of interest to Alicia Hunt, Director of Energy & Environment, at ahunt@medford.org.
