We seek a full-time Media Coordinator to increase the reach and visibility of IATP¹s work in the media, to policy makers, and among the partners and constituencies we work with. This position will be integral to building the overall communications capacity and strategy for the organization.
The successful candidate will have a background working in public relations, marketing, or social justice advocacy. Experience with International Non-Governmental Organizations is a plus. The candidate will also bring enthusiasm and creative thinking to this newly created position. The Media Coordinator is supervised by the Director of Development & Communications. This is an exempt position. 
The highly-preferred location for this position is IATP¹s main office in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A remote location may be considered for extraordinary candidates.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
            i.      Responsible for distributing IATP¹s public facing materials, including: 
          ii.      Work with Communications staff to maintain and monitor IATP¹s digital presence including:
        iii.      Monitor digital analytics:
        iv.      Assist Communications & Development Director in creation of IATP organizational
messaging and editing of press releases & other organizational materials.
          v.      Assist Communications Manager & Creative Director in creation of IATP¹s communication
products, i.e. print materials, mass emails, podcasts, video, website, etc. 
        vi.      Provide input to program staff on public relations opportunities of current work. 
       vii.      Contribute to the Development & Communications team in planning and strategy. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Qualifications:
  1. Intense curiosity and willingness to learn quickly about IATP issues. 
  2. A fearless approach to outreach and promotion. Comfort with cold calling and emailing reporters and others.
  3. Demonstrated success in working with the media and/or communications.
  4. Excellent writing, editing and speaking skills. An ability to turn a complex issue into a simple message. 
  5. Basic knowledge of website content management and social media.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office systems, and understanding of databases.
  7. At least 1 year of professional experience in a relevant field.
  8. Bachelor¹s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and an outstanding cover letter. 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. A degree in international relations, communications, or another relevant field.
  2. Three years of work in media or public relations fields.
  3. Existing knowledge of international trade and/or agriculture policy.
  4. Proficiency in Drupal.
  5. Experience generating reports on media performance. 
  6. An overwhelming abundance of creativity.
