Location: Remote preferably in the West/Northeast region of the US near a major airport.

Greener Fields Together is a comprehensive sustainability program for the fresh produce industry. We pride ourselves on taking a holistic approach by focusing on the four key components of the fresh produce supply chain: local farms, national suppliers, regional distributors, and foodservice and retail operators. The Greener Fields Together program is a part of PRO*ACT, America’s leading fresh produce distribution network, which puts us in a position to make real and lasting change on the environmental impact of the produce industry.
 
Job Description:
 
Our program is seven years young, and we are a small but vibrant team of passionate individuals looking to add two more regional sustainability coordinators in 2018. We are searching for two team players to fill these positions, with one located in the Northeast and the other in the West. The overarching goal of this position is to coordinate and facilitate the national initiatives of Greener Fields Together in their respective region, and to assist distributors, farmers, and customers in developing and executing their own sustainability strategies.
 
Core Responsibilities:
 
–        Work collaboratively with all levels of the supply chain and PRO*ACT members and distributors to enhance the value of Greener Fields Together.
–        Train and assist distributors on all components of the program including new and continuing initiatives.
–        Educate local farming communities on the program.
–        Support and encourage distributors in local farm and hospitality partner recruitment activities.
–        Oversee and assist in both the local farm and hospitality partner application process.
–        Train local farms on Good Agricultural Practices and verify audit readiness.
–        Encourage participation in the annual grant program and help farmers write and promote their proposals.
–        Oversee and assist in the completion of the annual waste survey for distributors.
–        Supervise green business certification process and related projects.
–        Draft and send out reports on a monthly basis to your respective region to update them on their current performance.
–        Manage/maintain hospitality partner relationships:
o   Ensure brand representation
o   Social media and website connectivity/promotion
o   Local farm product or farmer promotion
o   Organize farm tours and events
–        Attend and represent Greener Fields Together at selected tradeshows and events, and network with industry groups and organizations to identify future opportunities and partnerships.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skill Set:
 
–        Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or sustainability preferred; other degrees may be considered with appropriate experience.
–        1 to 3 years of experience working in food systems, sustainability, or agriculture.
–        Knowledge or ability to learn about essential food safety topics including Good Agricultural Practices and the Harmonized Food Safety Standard.
–        Experience in sales, marketing, and customer service.
–        Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
–        Ability and desire to travel up to 50% of the time.
 
Important to note: This position is located remotely and the chosen candidate will work out of their home. Frequent travel is required for this position, and candidates will be favored if they currently live near a major airport in their respective region (West or Northeast). The individual will be required to travel up to 50% of the time
