GIS INTERN – VANGUARD RENEWABLES
20 Walnut Street
Wellesley, MA
Contact:  William Jorgenson, wjorgenson@vanguardrenewables.com

Please review www.vanguardrenewables.com for a brief overview on the company.  We are devoted to farm digesters which take food wastes (feedstocks) and mix with dairy cow manure on farms to make renewable energy – either electricity or renewable natural gas.  The energy is used by companies, universities, and the food industry to find a way to use all their waste to reduce greenhouse gases as well as make our farms more sustainable for the next generation.

Vanguard Renewables is five years old now having four operational digesters in MA, with one more under construction.  We have new projects coming in VT and NY.  We are institutionally funded by private investors whose primary objectives are to help develop business which can build models to reduce the effects of climate change.

We are wanting to explore some additional development sites which will incorporate a series of geographic characteristics for best potential.  We are looking for someone with a GIS background who can help us think through not only what to do and how to do maps for refining our development areas but also make suggestions and seek out sources which could make the entire effort more robust.
We can work out a schedule to spend some time in the office to meet the personnel and get an introduction to the business, but then work can be done remotely at whatever hours suit the candidate’s schedule.  We are open to graduate and undergraduate candidates.  Ideally having some work experience would be beneficial.

We expect this effort will go through the end of January but might be carried over through the following quarter depending on what a candidate can help us find.

The compensation is $15 per hour.  Please email William Jorgenson to apply for this internship.
