Environmental Studies Program Coordinator – Washington and Lee University

As the first incumbent in this new position, the Environmental Studies Program Coordinator will work with the director, faculty, and partners of Environmental Studies to help plan, promote, andimplement curricular and co-curricular programming. The coordinator organizes events and program calendar, manages communications, coordinates internship opportunities, and serves as liaison to on- and off-campus partners.

At Washington and Lee, we take an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the environment. Faculty and students from the sciences, the humanities, and the social sciences are involved in this approach through research, the curriculum, and a variety of co-curricular activities, including public lectures, service learning projects, and internship opportunities. Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience; graduate degree in field related to environmental studies preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently, problem solve, and think creatively. Talent for successful event planning and ability to multitask. An interest in mentoring students and contributing to their academic and professional development to become future leaders in environmental fields. Ability to engage and work effectively with a diverse range of constituents and community members. Confident computer skills including essential productivity software (e.g. MS Office). At least two years of relevant work experience in environmental field, higher education, or event management preferred.
