Garden and Cooking Summer Intern

by Ivara J. Roth on March 13, 2019

iEat Green, an educational organic food service that partners with other local non-profit organizations, is looking for 1-4 people to assist with all aspects of maintaining our large organic garden, planning and cooking for events, and hosting educational groups. The interns will learn about planting, composting, harvesting, and vegetarian cooking. We will cook an organic vegetarian meal together every day, and interns will become partners in reaping the harvest of the garden each week!

Location is in Old Westbury, NY, only 30 minutes from Manhattan and centrally located on Long Island.

The schedule is flexible! We try to coordinate the same days with all the interns, so that you are never working alone. Most interns will work approximately 15-20 hours per week.

iEat Green partners with Slow Food North Shore, NOFA-NY, and the Long Island Food Coalition creating educational events throughout the summer, along with hosting a table at our local Farmer’s Market. We also, host educational groups to the iEat Green homestead such as Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and children from a local food pantry, teaching young people about growing food, and healthy cooking.

This is an unpaid internship opportunity, with some perks, like weekly fresh produce, and daily organic lunch. Open to working with students to get school credit for the internship.
