Fall Internships

Corporate Accountability International-Fall Internship

Corporate Accountability International is hiring for our fall internship program! We have several internships available for students who are interested in working in a campaign-oriented organization to protect the environment, public health and human rights from corporate abuse. The following are a few examples of open fall internships at Corporate Accountability International. All interns will play a key role in advancing our campaigns, including Think Outside the Bottle, Value [the] Meal, and Challenging Big Tobacco.

The Campaigns/Organizing Intern will take on significant projects to advance Corporate Accountability International’s mission by organizing activists, participating in campaign actions and providing administrative support for campaigns staff.

The Development & Membership Outreach Intern will work with our team of fundraisers and membership outreach staff as they organize and engage our members across the country in support of our campaigns.

The Online Intern will be supporting the Communications Team in updating the websites, sending online communications to members and activists. The Online Intern will also be supporting the Communications Team in implementing strategic online plans to raise public awareness for Corporate Accountability International’s campaign work.

The Recruitment Intern will assist in implementing an outreach program to identify and hire top-notch organizers, fundraisers, researchers, and administrators, from entry-level to senior staff positions. The Recruitment Intern will play a key role in the program by ensuring that all new job openings are publicized on websites and listservs to reach the best potential candidates, and by acknowledging, evaluating, and tracking all incoming job applications.

The Research Intern will support our organizers and researchers in conducting research and analysis needed to develop and implement our campaigns, particularly our Campaign Challenging Corporate Control of Water and our Campaign Challenging the Corporate Abuse of Our Food.

Fall Internships

Harvard Medical School, Office of Communications and External Relations Fall, 2011 Publication and Editorial Design Internship

The Office of Communications and External Relations at Harvard Medical School seeks a student with entry-level background or knowledge of publication and editorial design.  Along with assisting on magazines, newsletters, posters, electronic banners, etc., this position includes managing digital files and constructing photo archives.  This intern works closely with the department’s Art Director.

Qualifications: Candidate must be proficient in Adobe CS4 suite and above.  Experience with digital publishing/web/interface as well as photography is a plus.  Applicants must communicate well in writing and orally, be willing to juggle multiple tasks under the supervision of two or more staff members, and be organized, resourceful, and detail-oriented. A sense of humor is a must. A familiarity with web-based software applications, media relations and/or publications editing, and proofreading and production is desirable. The application process includes an onsite interview.

HMS internships are completed for college credit. A weekly commitment of between 10 and 20 hours is required. Harvard Medical School, Office of Communications and External Relations Fall, 2011 Communications Internship

The Office of Communications and External Relations at Harvard Medical School seeks a public relations, marketing and communications intern for the fall of 2011.

Responsibilities: Internships are to some degree tailored to individual applicants, but in general, interns assist in editing, fact-checking and proofreading copy; marketing efforts for online and print publications; handling web-related maintenance and development tasks; conducting online research for special projects; and supporting media relations activities. Opportunities to write for our publications are limited and demand exemplary skills; candidates will be expected to provide published clips.

Location: There is some opportunity to work out of our Somerville satellite location, but the internship is based primarily in Danvers.

Many individuals who have gone through our program have been able to secure full-time opportunities with our company or elsewhere within the media business. Mentoring and training opportunities, as well as ongoing feedback and the opportunity to be published are among the opportunities we offer.
Qualifications:   Candidates will need to have some kind of opportunity for academic credit or transcript notation in order to qualify for these unpaid internships.
