In order to enter the carnival, which was held at the Gantcher Center, children presented a book report. The theme of this year’s fair, “Reading Around Boston,” included booths with games and arts and crafts – many with a literary focus – as well as a scavenger hunt and bean bag toss. This year, New England Patriot’s Ryan Wendell attended to talk about his own experiences with reading. He also read a story and signed autographs.

With nearly 850 children at the carnival, it was a huge literary success!

This Lecture Series brings guests to Tufts to share their journeys as entrepreneurial leaders. Alan’s sons, Jacob A08, and Caleb A11, describe their father as “an entrepreneur who embraced change” and hope that the Alan Shapiro Entrepreneurial Lectures inspire students and alumni to explore the world of entrepreneurship.

West, whose work focuses on the role of race, gender and class in American society, discussed his perspective on the upcoming presidential election.

One of the world’s leading historians of the global economy and author of such internationally-acclaimed works as The Pity of War, The Cash Nexus: Money and Power in the Modern World, Empire: The Rise and Demise of the British World Order, Lessons for Global Power, and The War of the World: Twentieth Century Conflict and the Descent of the West. His new book, The Ascent of Money: A Financial History of the World, is already an international bestseller and the basis for a multipart television documentary.

• The first Sunday at Tufts Community Concert of the semester, presented by Tufts Composers, features the world premiere of Diana Dabby’s entire “September Quartet,” commissioned by the Tufts New Music Ensemble in 2002. The concert takes place Sunday at 3 p.m. in Distler Performance Hall.
• At 4 p.m. the same day, a remembrance service will be held at Goddard Chapel.
• The LGBT Center is screening the documentary “Saint of 9/11″ at Sophia Gordon Hall at 8:15 p.m.
