Policy and Advocacy

On Saturday April 9, Tisch College hosted a day-long celebration of The Active Civic Roles of Tufts Alumni. The event included presentations from Tufts alumni and faculty who are leading innovators in their field, a networking lunch, panel discussions and an opportunity to recognize alumni from the undergraduate and professional schools.

The panel discussion on policy and advocacy featured the following participants:

Inaugural Solomont Lecture, featuring U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi

On April 8, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) delivered the inaugural Solomont Lecture, part of the celebration of the 10-year anniversary of Tisch College.

Pelosi, who was the first-ever female Speaker of the House, reflected on her life and career in public service in a discussion with lecture namesake Alan Solomont, A70, U.S. ambassador to Spain and Andorra.

Tisch Turns 10

In honor of Tisch College‘s 10 year anniversary, the college kicked off its year-long 10th anniversary celebrating by hosting an active citizenship panel discussion with four faculty members who teach, research and live the mission of active citizenship each day.

Panelists included:

Edith Balbach, senior lecturer,  community health,  School of Arts and Sciences
Miriam Nelson, associate professor,  Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy and director,  John Hancock Research Center on Physical Activity, Nutrition and Obesity Prevention
Pearl Robinson, associate professor,  political science,  School of Arts and Sciences and founder and leader of Ghana Gold, a Corporate Social Responsibility Study Tour
Chris Rogers, professor of mechanical engineering and CEEO director,  School of Engineering
