David Carroll, A65, naturalist-artist, author and 2006 MacArthur Fellow, delivered a Friends’/Parents Weekend Author Talk on Oct. 22, 2010 at Hirsh Reading Room, Tisch Library.
Carroll discussed his most recent book, “Following the Water: A Hydromancer’s Notebook,” which reflects observations of a year’s passage in New Hampshire’s wild wetlands & bordering uplands from thaw in late March through the freezing over at the end of November.

Friends’ Author Talk by Kareem Roustom

Kareem Roustom, M06, a lecturer of music at Tufts, delivered a Friends’ Author Talk/performance on Nov. 10 at Hirsh Reading Room, Tisch Library.
His score for Amreeka, which premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, won the International Critic’s Award at the Director’s Fortnight during the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for three Spirit Awards.
During his talk, Roustom introduced the audience to his film compositions, playing pieces from them live as well as showing clips from the movies.

On Feb. 17 at a Friends of Tisch Library Author Talk, Christoph Börgers, Tufts professor of mathematics and author of Mathematics of Social Choice: Voting, Compensation, and Division, discussed the entertaining and easily accessible mathematics of voting, resource sharing, and fair compensation. He explained how the choices made by groups of people with different preferences, interests, and needs impact those outcomes.
