Looking Ahead

In these brief comments, Donini deals with three related issues likely to affect the future of the humanitarian enterprise:

  • How can we make it “of the world” rather than “of the North”?
  • Has it become too institutionalized?
  • Are we equipped for the black swans of the future?

His comments are informed by the findings of research he and others have been conducting at Tufts University on local perceptions of humanitarian action.
