Anton Baare has 20 years of experience as international development and conflict resolution practitioner in South East Asia and East and West Africa. He works on governance and civil society related programming with a focus on the incorporation of conflict management, social accountability and gender equity in early recovery and development assistance. His interests are in human security, community driven recovery and development, and disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR) programming. He has worked on DDR since 1993 in Uganda, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Cambodia. In 2006-2008 he advised the Government of Southern Sudan on the ceasefire and DDR protocols of the Juba peace talks. Anton is currently working on a legacy publication of the Multi-Country Demobilization Program. Anton holds a Masters degree in Social Anthropology from The University of Amsterdam.
