As the final fervor of the spring semester wound down over the past week, I had the opportunity to head to the Tufts European Center at Talloires, France for our annual symposium. Talloires is a place of peace and seclusion located in the heart of the French Alps, on the shores of Lake Annecy. The Tufts European Center, a restored 11th century monastery, is the perfect venue for this Fletcher event.

As attendance at our gatherings in Talloires has grown, the experience has proven to be intellectually engaging, strengthened the ties among diverse members of the Fletcher global network, and has increased the school’s profile in Europe. Each year, alumni gather to listen to world-renowned experts and guests weigh in on the most pressing global issues.

This past weekend, we were honored to have Dr. Evelyn Farkas, Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, and Anthony Scaramucci, Founder and former Co-Managing Partner of SkyBridge Capital, attend the symposium to discuss the future of foreign policy in the Trump administration. While this administration has been hard to predict, Evelyn and Anthony are among the best to read the tea leaves.

Beyond policy and academics, Talloires provides a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with our alumni, whether it be during hikes of the Cascade d’Angon, trips to the local village, Annecy, or stimulating discussions on the terrace. The Talloires Symposium is open to all Fletcher alumni – we hope to see you here next year!

As always, thanks for reading.
