Professor Chris Miller on U.S.-Russia Relations

With Chris Miller, Assistant Professor of International History at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University

Diplomatic relations with Russia are at their worst since the Cold War, but how did we get here? Assistant Professor of International History and Russia expert Chris Miller argues that the U.S. misunderstood Russia’s domestic and foreign policy goals, and the tools they were willing to use to achieve them. Miller also dives into the motivations behind economic policy making in Putin’s Russia, why the country is not overly concerned with North Korea, and offers some suggested reading on understanding Russia in the wreckage of the Soviet Union and its impacts on Russian elites and those around them.
