Over the course of a summer, KPCB Design and Engineering Fellows join our portfolio companies, where they develop their technical or design skills and are mentored by an executive within the company. Participants in our new Product Fellows program will get the chance to spend a full year working at a Silicon Valley startup.
Fellows will also be invited to attend both private events held by KPCB as well as by our portfolio companies, where they can meet other talented engineering and design students, network with luminaries in their respective fields, and explore the San Francisco Bay Area.
The 2017 KPCB Design Fellows Program is open to outstanding students from any academic discipline; the summer program will focus on Visual, Interaction, or Web User Interface Design. We will also accept individuals for the Design Fellows Program who have not attended a college, but can demonstrate relevant work experience.
Optional Design Challenge: Redesign a feature of a KPCB company’s product. You are free to focus on any disciplinary area that you are strongest with: Visual Design, Interaction Design, User Experience, and/or User Interface Design. You are also free to choose how you would most like to communicate and display your redesign. The interview team will be assessing your ability to think through a problem, come up with a solution, and defend that solution. Your work will also be a starting point for a design brainstorm with our interview panel.
