This workshop will introduce you to VisualDx, a diagnostic clinical decision support system designed to enhance diagnostic accuracy and aid therapeutic decisions. VisualDx is a database that uses images of common and rare medical conditions to assist with diagnosis. VsualDx includes more than 3,000 diagnoses and over 41,000 images, to aid in diagnosing infectious, immunologic, metabolic, nutritional, psychiatric, and genetic diseases.

In this workshop, we will show you how to find the number of times an article has been cited, create a citation report for a set of articles or an author, and compare citation statistics for authors, journals or articles in a particular field. We will also discuss emerging metrics (‘altmetrics’), such as the number of times an article has been viewed or downloaded. Finally, we will show you how to choose the right journal for your manuscript.

And what better activity to welcome them back with than pumpkin painting–one of our most beloved crafts! Stop by the Library Service Desk starting at 12pm on Thursday 10/28 and Friday 10/29 and decorate the gourd of your dreams. You can craft at the desk or take supplies to another locations to do your decorating–just make sure to bring them back!

Heart Berries: A Memoir by Terese Marie Mailhot
A First Nations (Indigenous) woman of the Stó:lō people recounts her life story, including facing a dual diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Bipolar II Disorder. We read this to honor Native American Heritage Month.

The Hirsh Health Sciences Library’s Anti-Racism Reading Group is excited to announce our Summer Reading Series – and you’re invited!
Through a series of three meetings held the second Friday of each summer month from noon to 1pm EST, we will learn, unlearn, and be inspired to take actions through our discussion of the book Body and Soul: The Black Panther Party and the Fight against Medical Discrimination by Alondra Nelson. An electronic copy of the book is available at no cost through the library.
All meetings held virtually on Zoom and are not recorded. Sessions will be held on June 11th, July 9th, and August 13th and you may come to whichever you wish. For example, you are welcome to join us in August, even if you did not in the previous months. You are also welcome to join us in June, even if you cannot in the following months.
