In observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day, we will be operating with a modified schedule on Monday, January 21st. The Library Service Desk will be open from 12pm-7pm and the Library Offices will be closed. We will be open for our usual hours on Saturday and Sunday. Stay warm and have a great long weekend!

This year, in observation of Veterans Day, the Hirsh Health Sciences Library will have shortened hours on Monday, November 12. That day we will be open 12 pm – 7 pm.

The Sackler Building will still have card swipe access for its normal daily schedule, so you are welcome to swipe in and come study in the building! Just be aware that the desk on the 4th floor will only be staffed from noon to  7pm.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, and will see you back on Tuesday for our normal operations!

If you haven’t already, mark your calendars because Mother’s Day is this Sunday. Take a moment to say thank you to the women in your life who inspire you, help you grow and look out for you.

If you completely forgot that Mother’s Day was this weekend, we have some last minute ideas for you:

  • Rent Mother’s Day: Starring Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts and Jason Sudeikis, it’s a celebration of mothers everywhere that will make you laugh, cry and love as three generations come together in the week leading up to Mother’s Day.
  • Make a card for Mom using one of these quotes.
  • Forbes wrote an article containing last minute flower delivery sites.
  • The Today show wrote an article called: 42 last-minute Mother’s Day gifts that she’ll actually love

Finally, nothing competes with the gift of time. If you can’t take your mom (or moms or mother figures) to lunch, give her a call or stick a card in the mail. And to all our moms, Happy Mother’s Day!

This Memorial Day weekend, Hirsh Health Sciences Library will be doing something a bit different with its hours: we will be open for our regular hours on Saturday May 28th (10am to 7 pm) and Sunday May 29th (noon to 10pm), but we will be closed on Monday, May 30th (aka Memorial Day itself).

The library will re-open on Tuesday, May 31st at 7:45 am.

We hope you have a delightful weekend!

You’re hard at work preparing for finals, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on holiday cheer! Take a break, stretch your legs, and head down to the library service desk on Thursday or Friday afternoon. We’ll have the supplies for graham cracker gingerbread houses, coffee-filter snowflakes, and more!

Peewee

It’s that wonderful time of the year again. Yes, that’s right. It’s turkey time! Starting at 12pm this Thursday 11/19 and Friday 11/20, you can stop by the Library Service Desk and create your own feathered friend to bring home to Mom (or back to your study carrel). We’ll have a variety of materials out so you can create anything your heart desires, from the simple and majestic hand turkey (our personal favorite) to 3D  pinecone poultry. Don’t have time to delve into a craft? Just lend a hand–we only need the outline!–to the giant library turkey we plan to make.

See you there!
