Greetings!  I am an Associate Professor of Development Economics at the Fletcher School and Department of Economics at Tufts University. I also serve as the Deputy Director of the Hitachi Center for Technology and International Affairs and the Director for the Sustainable Development Economics group at the Center for International Environment and Resource Policy (CIERP). During 2016, I will be a Senior Research Fellow in the Markets, Trade and Institutions Division (MTID) at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).  I am also a Non-Resident Fellow at the Center for Global Development and a Board member for CDA and the Boston Network for International Development (BNID)

After working for Catholic Relief Services in West and Central Africa, I completed my PhD in agricultural economics at the University of California-Berkeley.  My current work seeks to understand the impact of information technology on development outcomes in rural areas of sub-saharan Africa, particularly in the domains of agriculture, agricultural markets, adult education and financial inclusion.  I am also working with NGOs to understand the barriers to (and impacts of) the adoption of agricultural technologies, as well as design different mechanisms for providing social protection programs.  I have been fortunate enough to live (and conduct fieldwork) in a number of countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, DRC, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania and Togo, as well as Haiti and Guatemala.
