ABSTRACT

The access to timely information is critical for relief operations in emergency situations. Over the last years social-networking web systems, such as blogs and wikis, along with new information retrieval techniques have become more and more popular and have been applied fruitfully in many contexts. However, a comprehensive inclusion in humanitarian information management has not taken place yet although their application would provide enormous benefits for the exchange of information in humanitarian emergencies as the services allow to share information faster and easier.
