ABSTRACT
This paper provides a socio-political introduction to the main issues that have been or may be encountered by international agencies working in Pakistan for earthquake relief post the October 8 earthquake in Northern Pakistan. The report discusses how humanitarian agencies, despite pretences to neutrality, have fed into existing political fault-lines and provides recommendations on how agencies might better navigate the political dimensions of humanitarian relief in a sovereign nation under military rule.
