Students affiliated with Tufts Hillel are spending the beginning of their summer volunteering at the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda. Sponsored by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, the trip allows Tufts students to lead school programs for Rwandan children, rebuild village facilities, and make lasting connections with the local population. As one Tufts student said:
“I think our favorite moments here so far have been the meals we’ve been able to share with the students. It’s really amazing how much you can find in common with these kids. It’s not the differences that bring us together, but the similarities.”
Other Hillel members traveled to Mumbai, India with American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) Short-Term Service at the end of May. On this ten-day trip, Tufts students will have the opportunity to build relationships with the local Jewish community and participate in meaningful service projects.
