Keeping the Kitchen Local

Friedman alum Amy Scheuerman (N’10) has a mission: to eat only seasonal, local food for an entire year. On her blog, she chronicles her journey by publishing recipes and writing about what she learns.
Most recently, she explored the Gulf oil spill’s effect on the food system, specifically oysters.

The oil and the dispersants used by BP to break the oil up into droplets either kill the oysters outright or accumulate in the oysters and eventually show up in the aquatic creatures that eat oysters…or the people who do.
