This past weekend, Tufts Mock Trial teams B and A snagged 3rd and 4th places at regionals, which were held at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. 26 teams competed in the competition, only 8 of which would advance to the next level. Tufts rocked the tournament with 6-1-1 and 6-2 records, coming in just below the perfect records (8-0) of both Columbia and Amherst.
Next stop for the Tufts team? The Opening Round Championship Series (ORCS) in White Plains, New York.
A student’s take on the experience reads:
The case ran beautifully. Our planning paid off, and, with the defendant on our side, the opposition barely stood a chance. We not only presented a more persuasive case, but we performed the best we ever had. We entered every exhibit we intended to, made every point we wanted to, and wove it all together – even incorporating all of our last-minute changes seamlessly. Comments included praising Lindsey for “bending” witnesses “to her will,” applauding my closing as “flawless” and the time I “shined,” and voicing nothing but support for our remaining team members.
