Ezra Furman and the Harpoons, an indie rock band featuring several Tufts grads, will release their new album, “Mysterious Power,” on April 5. The first single, featured below, is “Hard Time in a Terrible Land.”
According to the band, the song “examines how the ravages of unemployment, poverty and other crises we face in these challenging times threaten to bankrupt us spiritually as well, compromising our faith in the future.”
The new album is the band’s first for Red Parlor Records, which is distributed in the U.S. by ADA, a part of the Warner Music Group.
After playing at the annual SXSW Music showcase in Austin, Texas, last month, they embarked on a nationwide tour. The Harpoons will make a hometown stop on April 7 at Great Scott in nearby Allston, Mass.
Lead man Furman, bassist Job Mukkada and drummer Adam Abrutyn graduated from Tufts in 2008.
