Tufts Students Aid in Emergency Response Exercise

On March 6, Tufts students from Tufts Emergency Medical Service (TEMS) volunteered to participate in the 2011 Operation Hermes. Operation Hermes is an emergency response exercise run by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and sponsored by the U.S. Homeland Security Transit Security Grant Program.

Students Jonathan Ehrlich, Kayla Murdock, Nishant Saharan, Jeffrey Prevost, Alexander de Castro-Abeger, Alexis Germain, Kevan Mamdouhi, Conway Yao and Laurie Merker portrayed the roles of commuters and victims at the scene of a staged violent outbreak at Bowdoin Station on the MBTA Blue Line. Local and state police departments, the fire department, the FBI and other organizations participated in the drill.
