Last month, the Tufts School of Medicine posted videos on YouTube of their annual Multicultural Performing Arts Show (MPAG), hosted by the university’s Office of Multicultural Affairs. The show consists of students and professors putting on performances for the rest of the student body in an effort to raise funds for college diversity scholarships for high school seniors in the Boston area. Want to know how to make that infamous dining hall butternut squash bisque? Have questions about the freshness of Dewick’s veggies? Just a foodie looking for a new cuisine based site? Look no further than Tufts Dining’s new blog. The tumblr site consists of posts by Tufts chefs, dining administrators, and even a fellow Tufts student and self proclaimed food lover, Veronica Richter, A13. Visit the site to snag recipes, read bios and interviews with the chefs that create your food, and get local restaurant suggestions.

Tufts’ AT Fellows recently launched a podcast series as part of their effort to assist the Tufts community with technological solutions for achieving faculty’s educational and research goals. Their blog discusses everything from social media sites like Twitter to search engines like Google. You can listen to their first podcast, which covers an introduction to their program and blog, or subscribe to the series, by signing into Tufts Spark and visiting their podcast page.

Sam Sommers appeared as one of the speakers this past week at TEDxSomerville, a nonprofit dedicated to the spread of new and riveting ideas, and had the pleasure of being accompanied by his very own theme song.  Performers from Do Not Forsake My Darling, which includes Tufts librarian Sophia Cacciola, were hired to be the house band for TEDxSomerville, and created mini theme songs for each of the speakers.

The lyrics to his song reflect the theme of Sam Sommer’s book Situations Matter: Understanding How Context Transforms your World:

Nothing says farewell like a well-organized flashmob performance by your co-workers. Brian Lee, the Senior Vice President for University Advancement left Tufts after 25 years with the university. This crowd of his friends and colleagues, organized by Alumna and current University Advancement member Kristin Livingston, A05, gave him a send-off to remember, with a customized and conducted rendition of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.

“Too late, your time has come,
Stole away our great VP, his multitasking can’t be beat
Goodbye, ev’rybody, he’s got to go,
Gotta leave Jumbo behind for Beaver teeth
Briaaaaaan oooh,
It’s been an A+ time,

The 2011-2012 EPIIC symposium, a four day event that took place from February 22 to 26,  was comprised of lectures and panels discussing various aspects of this year’s subject, “Conflict in the 21st Century,” and was put on by the Tufts Institute of Global Leadership. While tickets to the full symposium could run up to $75 a pop (the price was largely discounted for Tufts students and alums), the IGL made it possible to stay in the know no matter where you were, both during and after the symposium. You never know where in the world Peter Levine might be when you’re on the phone with him. The director of The Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE) has an office in Tisch College on the Medford Campus, but he has recently found himself wandering the streets of faraway countries.

How? In an effort to not distract himself with email or other tasks during a call, he has turned to Google Streetview. He shares his recent discovery on his blog.

Activities that fill enough of my brain that I am not tempted by distractions like email. My latest habit is to zoom to some exotic place on the Google world map, open the Streetview function, and go walking or driving along.

The Noontime Sports blog recently checked in with the Jumbo men’s and women’s basketball teams, interviewing head coaches Bob Sheldon and Carla Berube.

They also posted a video interview with Jumbos seniors Tiffany Kornegay and Kate Barnosky talking about their 13th win of the season against Wheaton College on Jan. 16.

If you care about the environment and want to do graduate work in the subject area, look no further! Tufts Institute of the Environment (TIE), which emphasizes the importance of sustainability and environmental research and awareness through interdisciplinary initiatives, has two exciting opportunities for post-grads.

The TIE Graduate Fellows program allows Tufts graduate students of any discipline to add an environmental component to his or her research. From biology to works of literature, Tufts students have found unique ways to delve into the natural world. Take a look:
