Thank you for visiting my website! I am a graduate student at Tufts University, pursuing my MPH and MS in Food Policy and Applied Nutrition. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2005 with a BS in Agriculture and Natural Resource Communication, with specializations in Environmental Economics and Environmental Studies. I spent three years in Lansing, Michigan, establishing the Convenience Store Partnership Program, through which local farmers supply convenience stores with produce, the School Garden and Nutrition Education Program, through which youth plant, prepare, and eat from school gardens and greenhouses, and the Farmers’ Market Program for Seniors, which allows seniors with limited mobility to access fresh foods.
I spent the next four years in Philadelphia where I worked for The Food Trust’s Healthy Corner Store Initiative, developing and coordinating the implementation of a corner store themed lesson series, and directing a healthy food themed youth leadership program. I’m proud to have had our youth leaders’ work highlighted by First Lady Michelle Obama, on Good Morning America, and by Dr. Sanjay Gupta.
I plan to continue working to eliminate childhood obesity and to ensure that healthy food is accessible to everyone, and hope to work more closely with the private sector and within public policy to do so. I also enjoy reading, writing, debating, hiking and backpacking in the White Mountains, and am learning how to rock climb.
