  • Relationships among learners and teachers provide fundamental infrastructure for teaching, clinical practice, and scholarly endeavors.  Appreciative and longitudinal relationships are critical to the development of open, trusting learning environments. Learning communities in the health professions are caring communities, where the relational matrix is the critical substrate for developing humanistic practitioners.  Service, professionalism, empathy and appreciativeness are modeled in collegial interactions, and become the wellspring for outward expression of humanistic practice to patients, families, and local communities.

  • Personal & professional development is essential for the maturation of both students and faculty across the continuum of learning. The LCI is committed to mentoring and sharing of best practices in order to contribute to the development of the members.
