Youth Programs Manager [Ford’s Theatre Society]

Ford’s Theatre Society seeks a dynamic Youth Programs Manager to
establish and expand programs that use oratory to engage young people
and teachers with history, performance and leadership. The Youth
Programs Manager will be an integral part of the education department in
a growing historic site / theatre complex.  Responsibilities include:
managing curriculum and relationships with teachers in Washington and
across the country; recruiting and training teaching artists / museum
educators; managing program content and timelines for student and
teacher initiatives; managing youth programs expenses and income; and
maintaining and strengthening the programs’ presence in the history
and leadership education communities.  The ideal candidate will have
administrative and teaching experience, excellent written and
communication skills, enthusiasm for social media and distance learning

The Youth Programs Manager (FT) oversees youth programs, including
long-term in-school and after-school programs. The Youth Programs
Manager’s primary responsibilities are launching and managing the
Oratory Fellows program and National Oratory Competition; recruitment,
training and management of Youth Programs teaching artists; and
management of curriculum for Youth Programs.  Specific responsibilities
include, but are not limited to:

●       Cultivating and managing relationships with teachers and schools involved in Oratory Fellows and National Oratory Competition programs.
● Recruiting, training and managing Youth Programs teaching artists.
● Creating and documenting curriculum plans for Youth Programs.
● Establishing distance learning training and support programs for Oratory Fellows.
● Observing and assessing teaching artist classroom experiences and youth programs in action.
● Developing summer youth programs based on current models.
● Overseeing all programmatic elements of Youth Programs performances, in coordination with the Education Programs Manager, including appropriate coordination with production, communications and development offices.
● Working with Distance Learning Coordinator to develop appropriate technological tools for recruiting and processing National Oratorical Competition submissions and Oratory Fellows communications.
● Creating and adhering to a timeline for implementation of the National Oratory Competition.
● Developing and implementing evaluation tools for measuring program efficacy.
● Planning and maintaining effective lines of communication with any and all outside evaluators and consultants.
● Building and maintaining relationships with local and national groups relevant to Youth Programs work.
● Overseeing design and distribution of appropriate Youth Programs outreach materials.
● Managing Youth Programs and Oratory Programs budgets, including income and expenditures.
● Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Education preferred
● Substantial classroom experience required (though it need not be full time teaching experience)
● Superior written and verbal communications skills
● Commitment to creating youth development programs and teaching and learning opportunities of the highest caliber
● Experience with Word and Excel programs
● Understanding of the school environment and politics

The Youth Programs Manager reports to the Director of Education.  This
is an exempt position.

Manager of School and Farm Museums [Farmers Museum]

Manager of School and Farm Programs

Purpose of Job: Manager of School and Farm Programs works to create and
manage a program of agriculturally based interpretive activities that will drive the content and character of school and family programs at The Farmers’ Museum. The position brings new life to interpretive offerings throughout the grounds of the museum and reflects the expansion of the institution’s desire to interpret farming and its importance over time.

Job Responsibilities:
● Work as a key team member of the education staff to deliver on-site programs to school groups.
● Reinvigorate school programs through the creation of programming that
reflects the institution’s move towards more science-based programming.
● Develop family programming for special events that engage audiences with
hands-on agricultural interpretive experience that demonstrates the crucial
nature of farming, and incorporates the ideas of change over time.
● Coordinate Fenimore Art Museum school groups and onsite school activities.
● Develop a working relationship with local schools to provide a program of
regular outreach, and collaborate on at least two off-site projects a year.
● Oversee the implementation of Head Start Outreach in the winter months.
● Prepare and manage program area budgets.
● Work with Volunteer Coordinator to develop a vibrant volunteer program.
● Create up-to-date reports focusing on attendance trends, visitor comments and needs, and proposing actions where needed.
● Maintain high standards of professionalism and conduct oneself in a manner
which shall at all times enhance the prestige and credibility of the organizations.
● Supervise museum teacher staff and volunteers.
● Other duties as needed or assigned

science and history behind agriculture, and be adept at developing visitor
experiences that reflect this.

● An understanding of emerging social and economic trends related to food production and consumption.

● Demonstrate a success in outreach and program growth
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Have a demonstrated understanding of museum audiences and their needs, including K-12 audiences and general visitors.

Rhizome seeks a highly organized, responsible and experienced candidate to work closely with the Collections Manager with all tasks concerning management of our new digital art archive. Responsibilities include assisting with the transition of artworks to the archive, inspecting and expanding records, help in the development and implementation of preservation policies, handling correspondence with artists, members and the press.

This opportunity is open to emerging professionals, recent graduates and those currently enrolled in graduate level degree programs in archival administration, museum studies or library science. The Fellow must be based in New York and must be able to commit to 16 hours of work per week, for 6 months, beginning in Spring 2011. This position is unpaid, but academic credit may be arranged.

Qualifications: The Digital Archive Fellow must have strong analytical, writing and communication skills. Education beyond the undergraduate level is required. Background or experience with digital archives and collections is a plus. Those with a keen interest in contemporary art and new media art will be given the highest priority. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Photoshop skills are preferred.

Summary:
The Rubin Museum of Art, opened October, 2004, is a non-profit cultural and educational institution dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition, and publication of Himalayan Art. Reporting to the Head of Education & Visitor Experience, the Coordinator, Educational Resources researches themes, ideas, educational objectives, models, and interpretive strategies for gallery and web activity. Working closely with the Education, Visitor Experience, Design, and Curatorial Departments, this individual delivers educational resources in galleries, evaluates interpretive tools for visitor needs, and manages the content and presentation of educational material and web-based curricula for the RMA website.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Conceptualize and produce interpretive aides, texts, displays, and digital media for use by diverse audiences including:
* Audio tours and podcasts in collaboration with the Curatorial and Education teams.
* Resource material and interactive experiences in the museum’s Explore areas (both digital, web, and object-based).
* Provide content and strategy for activities, curriculum and other necessary educational materials to support RMA educators, outreach, programs and events

* Review and evaluate RMA educational resources.
* Assist the Museum, as requested, in its work with other museums and institutions.
* Represent Education in various Curatorial, Design, and other departmental meetings.
* Represent the Museum at special events, professional conferences, and other appropriate events and activities.

Salary Level
* $35,000-$37,000, commensurate with experience

Qualifications
* B.A. in Art History, Anthropology, Design, Educational Technology, Masters preferred
* Working knowledge of Audio and Video Editing (Garage Band, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, etc.)
* Working knowledge of blogging interface and software (WordPress, etc.) and facility with online social media
* Comfortable working on both Mac and PC Platforms
* Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills required for ongoing communication with the Museum public
* Strong MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
