Education Center Coordinator
Reports to: Manager, School Programs

Summary:

The Rubin Museum of Art is a nonprofit cultural and educational institution dedicated to the art of the Himalayas. Its mission is to establish, present, preserve, and document a permanent collection that reflects the vitality, complexity, and historical significance of Himalayan art and to create exhibitions and programs designed to explore connections with other world cultures.

The Education Center Coordinator will facilitate the scheduling and organization of programs in the Rubin Museum of Art’s new Education Center, collaborating with multiple programs and departments to ensure program excellence and growth. Reporting to the Manager, School Programs, this position will provide administrative and teaching support  to the Education Department by scheduling, organizing and implementing on-site programs serving students, teachers, and other audiences, as well as preparing materials for and supporting off-site School Programs such as the Pre-Visit Program and Thinking Through Art, the museum’s multi-session K-12 arts residency program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Facilitate museum tours and teach art workshops for early childhood and K-12 audiences, as well as other teaching responsibilities as needed
* Coordinate the scheduling and organization of the Rubin Museum of Art’s new Education Center
* Schedule and provide administrative support for School Programs (K-12) and Early Childhood and Family Learning Programs.
* Facilitate museum tours and teach art workshops for early childhood and K-12 audiences, as well as other teaching responsibilities as needed
* Plan and prepare materials for Education Program initiatives
* Prepare, organize, and maintain all Education Center materials
* Work collaboratively with all museum staff and departments as appropriate to help achieve the museum’s goals for offering engaging, informative and accessible visitor experiences.
* Prepare reports and evaluations of various workshops.
* Provide general assistance with the Education Department’s daily operations.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Level
*        $33,000-$35,000, commensurate with experience

Qualifications
* B.A. in art education, museum education, or studio art, Master’s preferred.
* At least two years of teaching experience in a museum, classroom or studio
* Excellent organization, communication, and writing skills
* Ability to interface smoothly and professionally with the general public and colleagues
* Demonstrated interest in the field of museum education
