The Boulder History Museum is looking for a dynamic, energetic individual to take the Museum’s educational programming to a new level. The Curator of Education is responsible for the planning, management and implementation of all educational programs at the Museum and in the community. The Curator of Education will expand the Museum’s offerings to serve a diverse audience of children and adults.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

*   Identify and research potential new audiences for museum programming
*   Oversee the research, production and promotion of educational programs including age/grade appropriate curriculums, general audience and professional level classes, seminars and workshops
*   Work closely with Boulder Valley School District teachers to identify the most appropriate programs to support the school curriculum
*   Prepare educational materials and manage the coordination of educational trainings
*   Manage the scheduling of all museum tours and outreach programs
*   Identify and propose alternative educational program funding sources, including the preparation of grant proposals and securing sponsors for programs
*   Compile, maintain and report statistical information on program participation
*   Recruit, train and manage volunteers and student employees to lead museum tours and outreach programs
*   Develop and manage programs for scouts and other youth audiences
*   Plan and coordinate summer camps for children
*   Work with the Marketing Director to develop marketing materials for museum programs
*   Support exhibition development through interpretive writing and providing a strong visitor focus in museum exhibitions
*   Plan and develop activities for the Museum’s Discovery Room
*   Prepare and monitor education budget
*   Expand the Museum’s educational presence through social media and the internet

Qualifications and Requirements:

*   A passion for informal education particularly connecting people to their community
*   Three to five years experience doing a range of programming in a museum or other informal learning setting
*   Knowledge of current trends in Museum Education, Informal Learning and Visitor Studies
*   Ability to supervise several part-time employees and volunteers
*   Ability to develop experience-based educational programs that are engaging and meaningful
*   A college degree is required; Education, Museums, Public History or similar – A Master’s degree is preferred
*   We are looking for a team player with a sense of humor, who is creative, flexible, energetic and comfortable working in a small, busy organization
*   Highly organized, ability to juggle multiple programs, multiple volunteers and multiple deadlines
*   Strong computer skills and experience with social media
*   Excellent public speaking and writing skills
*   Able to work some weekends and evenings

Full Time position
Salary range: $33,000 – $38,000 annually
