BACKGROUND
As New York’s premier cultural institution dedicated to young people, CMOM
inspires children and families to learn about themselves and our world
through an environment of interactive exhibitions and programs. Begun in a
neighborhood storefront in 1973, CMOM has grown to a 38,000 square-foot
learning facility with outreach programs at 49 sites throughout New York
City, and has become a destination for visitors from around the world.

This past year, CMOM set an attendance record of 400,000 visitors, which
includes 30,000 children who visit CMOM as part of a school group and more
than 34,000 children served through outreach programs across the city in
at-risk communities through partnerships with community-based organizations,
schools, hospitals and libraries. A key aspect of the strategic plan is to
provide free or low-cost access to CMOM and its programs to low-income
families. In the past two years, the Museum’s budget has grown with new
local and national initiatives in health, early math and the arts.

THE POSITION
The Director of Development is a senior level position responsible for the
strategy and implementation of the Museum’s fundraising efforts during a
period of vigorous and exciting program expansion. He or she will work
closely with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director and the Deputy
Directors for Exhibitions and Education to develop strategic thinking and
targets for foundation, corporate and government grants, as well as
fundraising events and memberships.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Work with the Executive Director and Board to develop and implement a
comprehensive Fundraising Plan (including foundations, individuals, special
events, sponsorships and corporations) that will meet the organization’s
financial needs.
* Identify, evaluate, cultivate and solicit major gifts.
* Provide leadership and management for the development, sponsorship and
membership staff of four.
* Coordinate grant writing efforts with Museum staff to match potential
grants with Museum projects.
* Communicate effectively with donors and prospective donors to engage them
in the life of the Museum and keep them informed about CMOM’s mission,
needs, and gift opportunities.
* Cultivate Board members to become more deeply engaged in fundraising
activities.
* Oversee the planning and successful execution of the Museum’s annual
family and fundraising events.
* Supervise the creation, updating and managing of all records relating to
corporate and individual donations.
* Develop and implement creative and sustainable strategies to increase
member involvement and retention.
* Continually assess and upgrade development systems and structures to
ensure they support fundraising goals.
* Create annual income and expense budgets and manage the Development
Department in a fiscally sound manner.
* Provide detailed reports on fundraising progress to the Executive Director
and Board on a regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS
* Five to seven years experience in fundraising across all giving sectors,
including at least two years of major gift experience.
* Experience in the coordination of external affairs/corporate strategic
alliances and development campaigns.
* Experience leading and managing a staff.
* Strong understanding of development systems and structures.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
* Collaborative work style and an ability to involve senior programming and
exhibition staff in development efforts.
* Exceptional organizational skills with a particular ability to prioritize
projects and keep multiple initiatives moving forward simultaneously.
* Ability to keep the big picture in mind while also paying close attention
to details.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Demonstrated passion for missions associated with serving the needs of
children across a broad developmental and economic spectrum.
* Bachelor’s degree and PC/database experience required. Raiser’s Edge
experience preferred.

Early Childhood Coordinator [Golisano Children’s Museum]

*Early Childhood Coordinator*

The Golisano Children¹s Museum of Naples is currently recruiting an
Early
Childhood Coordinator. The Early Childhood Coordinator is responsible
for
developing, leading, overseeing, and evaluating a variety of
interdisciplinary early childhood programs in the arts, sciences and
humanities for children under 5 and their caregivers that utilize the
Museum¹s exhibits and gardens, including but not limited to onsite
school
programs, daily floor programs, camps, and our fee-based Baby and Me
programs. The Early Childhood Coordinator also develops, implements,
teaches, and evaluates parenting education classes, workshops, and
speakers
series.  In addition, the Early Childhood Coordinator oversees the
Family
Resource Library, including purchasing, cataloging, and annual
inventory.

Additional duties include: teaching arts, humanities and science
programs
for children 5-12 on a regular basis, working with the Director of
External
Affairs to publicize early childhood program offerings, assisting with
writing grants related to early childhood education, and acting as a
weekend
lead education supervisor. This is a full-time (40+ hours/week),
salaried
position with benefits. *Please note: this is a Sunday through
Thursday
position.*

early childhood education is
required;
master¹s degree preferred

ABOUT BETHEL WOODS:

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is a cultural center that inspires
creative expression and civic engagement to enrich the human spirit. The
$100 million outdoor performing arts center and museum are located at
the site of the original 1969 Woodstock festival in Bethel, NY, situated
on nearly 2,000 bucolic acres.

POSITION ROLE:

The Education Programs Manager is an integral position within the
department of Education & Community Outreach and is involved with a wide
range of educational programs for diverse audiences. This position
oversees the implementation and expansion of on-going educational
programs for a range of audiences, including school groups, adult
audiences, and family programs. A major component of the position will
be in the implementation of a new, innovative program currently under
development, which represents a partnership between Bethel Woods and
area schools. This is a full-time, year-round position.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position oversees the implementation of on-going educational
programs at Bethel Woods, including revising and continuing existing
programs and creating new programs to help better serve our audiences.
Position includes creative development of school and family-based
programs, including expanding the existing programs to include
additional pre- and post-visit support materials. Position also provides
research and support for ongoing speaker and film series and other
adult-based programs. Experience with school groups–either in the
classroom or informal learning environment–is essential.

Specific Duties:

·         Creates, implements, and monitors development of education
programs relating to arts education, broadly defined, at Bethel Woods

·         Provides logistical support to all of the above programs, and
assists as needed with other departmental projects

Vice President for Education and Visitor Experience

The Brooklyn Children¹s Museum is the world¹s first children¹s museum, a
pioneer in the field of non-traditional education. Our mission is to
actively engage children in educational and entertaining experiences
through innovation and excellence in exhibits, program and use of its
collections. We encourage children to develop an understanding of and
respect for themselves, others and the world around them through
exploration of culture, arts, science and the environment. The Museum is
recognized for addressing the educational, cultural, and social concerns
of youth and families in our diverse urban environment. The VP for
Education and Visitor Experience will coordinate and provide leadership
for the activities of the Museum¹s departments of Education,
Collections, Exhibits, and Visitor Services (the Program Departments).
The Education Department delivers programs in natural science, early
childhood, cultural studies, and for the afterschool program. It is also
responsible for the Museum¹s live animal collections, greenhouse and
garden, and library for children. The Exhibits Department handles
maintenance of the galleries, visiting and traveling exhibits, and
includes a repair shop as well as a large inventory of props. The
Collections Department curates and manages a collection of almost 30,000
cultural artifacts and natural science specimens from all over the
world, the Portable Collections program, and the Collections Central
gallery and website. The Visitor Services Department manages admissions,
membership, calendar, shop, café, rental events, group reservations, and
monitoring of the galleries.

Detailed responsibilities include:

€ Direct and supervise the work of the departments; Education,
Exhibits, Collections and Visitor Services departments.
€ Work with the Program Departments to develop programs,
exhibitions, and projects that will interpret the Museum¹s mission in
current terms and ensure a high-quality educational and entertaining
experience for visitors; to create program schedules; to develop project
proposals; to assist in fundraising efforts; to prepare and manage
annual departmental budgets; and to prepare annual and long-range
planning goals, objectives and strategies.
€ Develop partnerships with schools and maintain communication
between the Museum and the Board of Education; as well as private school
systems, colleges and universities.
€ Work with staff to develop programs that increase public access
and use of the Museum collections.
€ Communicate and represent the projects and priorities of the
four departments and of the Museum to a variety of constituencies
including Museum staff, public audiences, community groups, schools,
other cultural institutions, and government and private funding agencies
as necessary
€ Strengthen partnerships and collaborations with community
groups, peer institutions, and the field at large

Qualifications:
. 8+ years of experience in a management position in a museum or
educational setting, plus a background in museum education;
. Excellent team leadership and interpersonal skills;
. Excellent written and oral communication skills;
. Experience conceptualizing and writing project proposals for
government and foundation grants and project management experience;
. Graduate degree in museums, education, or early childhood studies
preferred;
. Familiarity, in addition, with visitor services, collections, and
exhibition areas preferred.
