Digital Archives Assistant

The Cambridge Historical Society seeks a highly organized and self-motivated individual to fill the part-time grant-funded position of Digital Archives Assistant through July 2012. The successful candidate will be responsible for the digitization and web presentation of two small archives collections containing manuscript and photographic materials related to two pioneering Cambridge women, Lois Lilley Howe and Sarah Bull.

Duties include:

Cataloging photographic materials
Digitizing fragile collection material
Preparation of image files for archiving and for web display

Demonstrated experience in digital imaging, technical photography, digital libraries, and web design required. Experience working with web-based CMS a plus. Those enrolled in Library Science or Museum Studies programs are encouraged to apply.

Successful candidate will report to the executive director and work closely with the archivist.

16 hours a week. Somewhat flexible schedule.
