Jean Efron Art Consultants LLC, a corporate art advisory firm, is
seeking a Project Manager for the roles of assisting in the  development
and management of programs for commissioning large scale public artworks
and curating art collections,  managing our busy Washington, DC, office,
and contributing to the growth of the business.  Potential for
advancement in an established firm.

Primary responsibilities include:

€ Project planning and management
€ Artist development
€ Marketing and business development
€ Advanced research in identifying artists of interest in all
media, particularly contemporary art
€ Liaise with artists and galleries
€ Database and Collections Management

Qualified candidates will have extensive knowledge of contemporary art,
artists and art galleries, and will have demonstrated business and/or
work experience and skills.   Applicant should be enthusiastic,
detail-oriented and have excellent organizational and communication
skills.

BA in art history, minimum of 2 years work experience in the art market
and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, PowerPoint,
Photoshop, and database programs required.  Knowledge of social media
programs and marketing desirable.

Graduate Intern [American Textile History Museum]

The American Textile History Museum is seeking a graduate intern to assist the curator with preliminary research and object selection for a wedding dress exhibit in the spring of 2013. Specific duties include researching period magazines, drafting object labels, creating a bibliography, and researching individual garments. Individual must have excellent computer skills, artifact handling skills and be detail-oriented, precise, and careful in executing responsibilities. Associate Educator, Teacher Programs [Skirball Cultural Center]

ASSOCIATE EDUCATOR, TEACHER PROGRAMS
The Skirball Cultural Center seeks an Associate Educator for its teacher
programs.  The Associate Educator is a member of the Skirball¹s
Education department and reports to the Head of School and Teacher
Programs. S/he works closely with other school and teacher program staff
and a corps of school-tour docents.

This is a full-time, 40-hour/week position with benefits. The Associate
Educator schedule is generally Mondays through Fridays, but s/he must be
able to work on Saturdays when teacher professional development
workshops are occurring.

Responsibilities:

-Create, develop, and implement all museum- and performance-based
professional development programs for Pre-K through Grade 12 teachers.
Assess teacher programs for relevancy, learning outcomes, and relevance
and appeal to audience; revise these programs as needed.
-Serve as a resource for professional development related to visual and
performing arts and teaching methodology for Skirball volunteer and
staff educators as needed; provide training and develop relevant
supplemental materials and instruction to enrich knowledge and enhance
tour facilitation and content skills.
-Generate pre-visit materials for teachers whose students are
participating in Skirball performing arts programs.
-Engage in outreach efforts to teachers to promote school and teacher
programs, including coordinating the teacher e-newsletter, networking
with teachers and administrators and related arts organizations, and
delivering presentations at school and district meetings.

Requirements:

-Bachelor¹s degree or higher in education, museum education, art
education, or related discipline.
-A keen appreciation of and resonance with the Skirball Cultural Center
mission and educational goals.
-Demonstrated skill in developing and implementing teacher programs that
yield affective as well as cognitive outcomes.
-Prior experience as a classroom teacher; or related experience
demonstrating credibility in training classroom teachers.
-Knowledge of CA state standards in Social Studies, VAPA, and other
subjects.
-Knowledge of Jewish culture and history.
-Proven success in recruiting and working with teacher audiences.
-Excellent oral and listening communications skills and the ability to
work effectively with people of diverse cultures, ages, and
socioeconomic backgrounds.
-Excellent written communication skills, especially in lesson planning
and curriculum development, including strong editing skills.
-Demonstrated ability to develop productive relationships within an
organization and within the field.
-Personal computer skills; proficiency utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel,
PowerPoint.

Education Coordinator
Highfield Hall, an historic site and cultural center on Cape Cod, is
looking for a creative and enthusiastic educator to serve as the next
member of our growing staff. This is a two-year, IMLS funded position,
20 hours per week with the possibility of becoming permanent. The
Education Coordinator will develop, deliver and evaluate quality
educational programming, primarily for children and families, across a
variety of themes (art, history, nature, culinary, gardening). The

Blanton Museum of Art
Director of Education and Academic Affairs

Purpose: Reporting to the Director, this position is responsible for
overseeing the operation of the Education and Academic Affairs
Department of the Blanton Museum of Art including the development,
implementation, and evaluation of all education and outreach programs
that serve the University and public community. The position works
closely with other museum departments and fosters collaborative
relationships with other areas of the University as well as
organizations outside the University.

Essential functions:
1) Responsible for developing a cohesive vision and strategy for the
museum¹s Education and Academic Affairs Department for both university
audiences and the general public. Manage the department¹s programs,
staff, and budget.
2) Lead a team of staff members to develop a museum-wide interpretive
plan for The Blanton¹s diverse audience. Work closely with curators
and other museum staff to implement strategies for interpretation.
3) Develop collaborative relationships with a wide range of academic
departments and university programs to foster the use of the Blanton
collection and special exhibitions as an integral resource in teaching
students across disciplines with special emphasis on integrating the use
of Blanton resources with major university initiatives. Work with other
museum departments to develop and implement strategies that facilitate
this effort.
4) Manage an interdisciplinary program at The Blanton that invites
scholars outside of the museum to augment the study of the collection
beyond the expertise of museum staff and to contribute to the research
and planning of exhibitions and other museum programs. Work closely with
curators through the process.
5) Oversee and develop a cohesive vision for the Blanton internship
program, which currently includes volunteer undergraduate student
interns across departments as well as paid graduate student curatorial
interns.
6) Provide direction in engaging the wider university student body in
self-initiated, out-of- class visits to the museum that promote a
lifelong love of the arts among students.
7) Oversee the implementation of programs for museum members and the
general public such as lectures and music events developed in
collaboration with other museum departments.
8) Oversee K-12 outreach programs developed in close collaboration with
area school staff, appropriate university staff and faculty, and other
organizations involved in the advocacy and development of K-12 visual
arts education.
9) Oversee family programs including the assessment of potential growth
and the development of collaborations with local organizations in this
area.
10) Oversee the 50-year-old docent program with a corps of more than 60
volunteers.
11) Provide direction in developing and oversee the implementation of
an overarching strategy to use information technology to enhance the
interpretation of the permanent collection and exhibitions of both
loaned objects and works from the collection; to provide tools and
resources for study, research, and teaching; and to document and
disseminate programs through the Internet.
12) Develop and implement an evaluation plan that qualitatively and
quantitatively measures programs in the Education and Academic Affairs
Department.
13) Work with museum staff to develop fundraising strategies for
Education and Academic Affairs Department programs and actively
participate in the solicitation process.
14) Cultivate a culture of excellence in the Education and Academic
Affairs Department t
hat distinguishes the museum as a leader and develop
programs that serve as a model for university art museums. Serve on
professional committees.

Required qualifications:
1) Masters Degree in Art History or related field.
2) Seven years experience in museum education and/or in developing
interpretive materials and programs.
3) Equivalent combination or relevant education and experience may be
substituted as appropriate.
4) Excellent written and oral communication skills.
5) Demonstrated ability to provide creative and intellectual oversight
and a proven ability to work collaboratively with others.

Preferred qualifications:
1) PhD in Art History or related field.
2) Familiarity with the academic environment and the ability to work
cross-departmentally with curatorial and other museum staff.
3) Demonstrated ability to develop interpretive programs for a range of
audiences both public and academic.
4) Familiarity with the use of new technologies in developing
interpretive materials.
5) Curatorial experience.
