*QUALIFICATIONS:*      ****

**·         **Degree in art history, art education, museum studies, or a
related discipline****

**·         **One ­ two  years prior work experience in a museum or other
non-profit setting, preferably related to tour and volunteer programs****

**·         **Knowledge of K-12 curriculum strongly preferred****

**·         **Ability to perform in fast-paced work environment****

**·         **Capability to successfully work with large groups of all ages*

**·         **Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication
skills****

**·         **High-energy, detail oriented personality equipped to handle
multiple tasks at once, as well as to work within a team environment.****

**·         **Knowledge of Web 2.0 applications****

*POSITION SUMMARY:  *As a member of the Interpretation and Visitor
Experience staff, the Coordinator of Gallery Tours and Volunteers is
responsible for scheduling and implementing Gallery tours. S/he works with
the staff and docent corps to fill all tour requests. In addition, s/he
serves as the volunteer liaison for all departments and manages volunteer
recruitment, training, and assignments.****

*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*

*Tour Program*

– Schedules all docent- led and self-guided tours for the institution
which continue to increase.****
– Manages all aspects of tour groups and ensures the coordination of
their activities with Gallery staff and docents.****
– Working in conjunction with teachers and docents, plans and presents
preK-12 student tours which meet curriculum requirements.****
– Oversees the hands-on activities that follow gallery tours in the
education workshop. Keeps inventory of and orders when necessary all
materials used for activities. Assists in teaching docents how to
successfully present all workshops to PreK-12 students.****
– Communicates on a regular basis with the Visitor Experience staff at
the Admissions Desk to make sure that they are informed of all Corcoran
events, educational programs and tours, and changes to schedules.****
– Oversees tour assignments for 190 docents who are in four different
groups: weekday, weekend, college, and ³Ask Me² docents.****
– Makes arrangements for approximately 60 docent training sessions
annually.****
– Records training attendance and tour fulfillment for 190 docents.
Possesses the skills and knowledge to presents tours and workshops when
needed.****

*Volunteer Program*

– Oversees the institution¹s 60 volunteers who manage and assist with
Corcoran programs and events including public lectures, concerts, Family
Days, data collection, and other initiatives.****
– Creates and implements at least three volunteer recruiting events
annually.****
– Presents training sessions and materials to the volunteers so that
they possess adequate and up-to-date knowledge about the Corcoran and its
programs and can assistant visitors in an informed and friendly manner.**

– Serves a liaison for the volunteer program and all Corcoran
departments that require volunteer services. Receives requests  and
assigns
volunteers to help staff successfully implement programs, events and
other
projects.****

Assists Director of Interpretation and Visitor Experience with duties as
assigned.****

This is a *Tuesday ­ Saturday* position with some Thursday evenings
required.****
