advance the museum through successful fundraising and development, and to oversee the
day-to-day operations.

The Wright Museum is located in Wolfeboro, NH and is the only museum in the US
featuring authentic displays of World War II Home Front America between the years
1939 and 1945. The Wright Museum is a member of both AAM and NEMA and is a
community based, non-profit museum with a full time staff of 3 employees and over 50
volunteer employees.

The Executive Director will represent the Museum with donors, members, volunteers,
and the community at large. The ideal candidate will have a proven record managing
and growing the funding base for a non-profit organization, and have skills in marketing.
Experience with museum management is desired. This is a challenging position for
a creative person who wants to direct an expanding museum involved in historic
preservation, artifact acquisition and community outreach.

Educator [Hickory Hill]

The Watson-Brown Foundation seeks a professional to manage its history and
environmental science education programs.  The *Educator* serves as the
lead for all educational services at Hickory Hill and the Tom Watson
Birthplace and is charged with developing and overseeing all educational
programs in history and environmental science of the institution. The
Educator works with teachers, children, students, and the general public,
and devises and implements programs that relate both to special
exhibitions, to the museum¹s permanent collection, and to the Georgia

*Job Responsibilities*****

·         Provides direct educational programming to the public.****

·          Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of all
educational programs, including but not limited to School Programs,
Outreach, and Summer Camps.****

·         Participates directly in the preparation and execution of special
programs including Teacher Workshops, Group Tours, and others.****

·         Supervises all volunteers and interns, and serves as a trainer
and mentor for any staff performing education work.****

·         Works with the historic livestock program, feeding and caring for
the chicken and peafowl flocks, and the heirloom garden program.****

·         Assists in the development and administration of the Education
Operating Budget.****

·         Participates in the recruitment, selection, and training of
interns.****

·         Performs independent research to prepare historically and
scientifically accurate programs.****

·         Properly manages the education collections and all spaces
assigned to him/her.****

*Qualifications*****

The successful candidate will:****

·         Be a U.S. Citizen or possess a valid U.S. work visa and be
presently residing in the United States.****

·         Possess a Bachelor¹s or Master¹s degree in history, public
history, museum studies, environmental science, education, anthropology, or
other related field.****

·         Two years paid experience working as an educator, interpreter, or
historian in a museum or historic site environment.****

·         Have previous paid work experience with children.****

·         Be able to pass a background check and drug test.****

·         Be physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions,
lead extended outdoor guided tours involving extensive walking and standing.

Queens Museum of Art is seeking a Director of Education to lead a team, of
nine staff members and fifteen educators, responsible for engaging the
public in learning through the museum’s collections, exhibitions and other
resources. Currently, the programmatic divisions are: Schools, Families and
After School, ArtAccess (for people with special needs) and New New Yorkers
(for adult immigrants).

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*

*Education Responsibilities*
– Establish the vision and direction of a vibrant, highly collaborative,
community-focused group of educators;
– with the department staff and outside partners, conceive, implement,
manage and assess an active and vibrant body of discussion-based and studio
programs, centered on the museum’s permanent collection, special
exhibitions and other resources;
– establish and reestablish our pedagogy, which includes gallery practice,
studio practice and the relationship between the two;
– disseminate museum’s practice through public speaking and writing in the
form of presentations, conferences, blogs and publications to widely
represent the educational interests of the museum, travelling locally and
nationally as needed;
– network with peers from museum education departments, expand the museum’s
visibility in our diverse communities and strengthen ties with the broad
regional and national education community;
– understand and apply historical and current research in museum and art
education;
– oversee the staff’s, educators’ and teaching artists’ collaborative
action research and all other forms of assessment and evaluation needed to
insure the highest quality learning experiences;
– support and nurture the professional growth of each member of the
department and conceptualize professional development for the museum
educators and teaching artists;
– insure that the diverse cultures and varying abilities of our community
are appropriately met and challenged by our staff and programs;
– create an environment that fosters relationships across communities and
audiences;
– lead the department into becoming the most collaborative and
partnership-based museum education department possible;
– advise the Executive Director and the Board of Trustees on educational
matters, initiatives and programs.

*Administrative and Fundraising Responsibilities*
– oversee all education-related funding proposals and reporting;
– develop appropriate pricing and earned income opportunities to increase
revenue;
– develop and monitor departmental budgets, contracts, agreements and other
administrative documents;
– collaborate with and oversee the department team, which includes nine
staff, 15 educators and teaching artists and several interns who teach in
over five languages;
– oversee all staffing in the department, being primarily responsible for
all Manager hires and supporting the Managers in the staffing of all
Coordinator, Assistant, Educator and Intern positions;
– serve as the primary point person in Education for other members of the
museum, including the Executive Director, Curatorial staff, exhibiting
artists, Public Events staff, Development, Marketing and PR, Security,
Facilities and the Business Office;
– grow the programming to take advantage of an expanded museum space and
other learning opportunities in libraries, schools and community spaces;
– execute and refine strategic planning, by collaboratively determining the
future direction of the department;
– insure high quality and appropriate facilities for the programs to
improve the quality of experience for students;
– oversee the marketing and public relations of the programs through the
web, social media and print;
– assist on other projects and initiatives as needed, working with
colleagues throughout the Education Department and the Museum.

Master’s degree with significant experience and proven ability to develop
effective educational programs, grow and sustain meaningful relationships.
Demonstrated management, collaborative and budgeting skills. Excellent oral
and written communication skills.

Education Fellowship [Westport Arts Center]

The Westport Arts Center is a non-profit visual and performing arts organization dedicated to creating arts experiences that enrich the lives of area residents and the entire community. The Westport Arts Center seeks a skilled and innovative art educator to manage and implement after-school programs and workshops. Reporting to and in collaboration with the Director of Education, the Westport Arts Center Education Fellow will design, manage, and implement the following:

*   Perform a variety duties including researching, planning, organizing and teaching on-going art education programs for a wide range of audiences, including children ages toddler-13 and families, school and home school groups; senior citizens, scout and other interest groups.
*   Lead inquiry-based school-group tour and classroom visits that are designed to re-enforce 21st Century Skills relevant to art and to core curriculum in a number of k-12 subject areas.
*   Assist with administrative needs related to all areas of Youth and Adult Education programs.

*   Develop educational materials, templates and curricula to be used in WAC’s galleries, on the WAC website (e.g. gallery aides, activity-guides and teacher materials).
*   Lead workshops during scheduled community outreach events and festivals.

seeking an Associate/Assistant Educator for Program Evaluation to evaluate
and assess education programs and interpretive resources that serve a wide
range of audiences, including adults, family, teacher, and access
audiences. The position, reporting to the Managing Museum Educator for
Public and Exhibition Programs, facilitates program evaluation using
formative, observational, and summative methodology and practice. These
evaluation and research activities seek to enable staff to assess and
communicate the institutional and public benefit of its programs, with a
focus on assessing programmatic impact on participant learning and
advancement of museum and department goals. In this role, s/he collaborates
closely with programming staff in Education and other Museum staff as well
as external partners to ensure a close and thoughtful connection between
program development, implementation, and evaluation. S/he contributes to
relevant cross-departmental studies and projects (with Communications,
Development, Visitor Services, etc.). S/he also supports the ongoing work

*Primary Responsibilities and Duties:*

The Associate/Assistant Educator for Program Evaluation, in coordination
with Education staff and other Museum staff, will propose, plan, implement
and coordinate multiple, diverse evaluation projects that help advance
division, department, and Museum goals; collaborate with educators and
other program staff to integrate goal-setting and outcomes-based assessment
into program design; coordinate special research projects that have impact
within department as a whole and for the field of museum education; design
and administer appropriate evaluation methods and tools for each project,
(e.g. evaluation questionnaires, observations, interviews, discussion
facilitation, etc.) to gather relevant quantitative and qualitative data;
perform tabulation and extrapolation of collected data, and create reports
and presentations outlining findings. Will also work with other Education
and Museum staff members and/or outside consultants to shape
evaluation/assessment tools and techniques, and find impactful ways to
disseminate findings within the Met, as well as nationally and
internationally; report on the results of evaluation and research projects
to internal and external stakeholders; work closely with other Education
and Development staff to draft program proposals and reports for funding
agencies, Trustees and donors, partners, and government stakeholders; teach
regularly, including leading or co-facilitating training sessions for
volunteers, professional development sessions for peers, and gallery-based
programs for a range of general audiences groups; and perform other related
duties as necessary.****

*Requirements and Qualifications*

*Experience and Skills:*

The successful candidate will have 2 years experience (3-7 years preferred)
conducting audience research and evaluating museum programs and exhibitions
within informal learning contexts using qualitative and quantitative
methodologies; a portfolio of evaluation reports that demonstrate expertise
in current Education theory, evaluation methods, and best practices in a
museum, cultural institution, other non-profit, or consulting organization;
with examples that show familiarity with the museum evaluation processes,
including front-end, formative, and summative phases; demonstrable
experience using research databases and other tools for information
management, as well as experience handling multiple complex tasks, managing
deadlines and handling of time-sensitive materials;  experience
coordinating with and supporting museum education program development and
design preferred; excellent interpersonal skills, including maintaining key
collaborative relationships and in planning and negotiation within a
cultural institution; strong communication skills, verbal as well as in
writing, using formal and informal vehicles; strong data presentation
skills; and experience teaching in a Museum setting is required.****

*Knowledge and Education:*

A Masters or Ph.D. in education, art education, sociology, psychology,
anthropology, museum education or a related field of the humanities or
social sciences as well as a background in art history is required.
Experience conducting evaluation with adults, children, and/or families;
demonstrated capacity to use an array of research tools and statistical
software such as SAS, SPSS, Stata, R, Mplus, etc.; and command of Microsoft
Office Suite 2007/2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote) with
familiarity with Microsoft Access 2007/2010 preferred.****
